For loggers, landowners and timber buyers in the US and Canada

Your tally, your number.

Scale each log in board feet as you go, see what the load is worth, and send the tally sheet before the buyer or the mill sends theirs. On your phone, with big keys, fully offline.

Timberlog on iPhone: a 10 ft by 20 in log scaled to 160 board feet by the Doyle rule, with the tally list below

What you get

Scale logs in board feet

Doyle, Scribner Decimal C, International 1/4"

Enter length and diameter and the board feet are there before you lift your thumb. Doyle matches the printed chart, so your numbers agree with the ones on the landing.

Diameter or circumference, feet and inches or metric – pick the rule and the units once in Quick setup and keep scaling.

See the load's value as you scale

$/MBF by species and grade

Put your prices per thousand board feet in once, by species and grade. Every log you add shows up in the total: net board feet, gross board feet, dollars and the average $/MBF of the load.

A log that deserves its own price gets one – set it on the log, and the tally shows which logs were priced by hand.

Tally of 20 logs: 4,328 BF net, 4,548 BF gross, $18,221.30 and $4,210.10 per MBF

Your tally sheet, ready to send

PDF or Excel in one tap

The tally sheet carries your company, the buyer, the loading location and every log with its length, diameter, cut back, gross and net board feet, price and amount. Send it from the landing as PDF or Excel, by email or to the cloud.

Save a tally and open it again later; keep several lists for several jobs.

Cut back for defects

gross and net volume

Rot in one end, sweep, a shake: cut back the length or the diameter and the log shows gross and net board feet side by side. The original measurement stays in the list, crossed out, so the buyer sees what was deducted and why.

Cut back row set to 9 ft × 15 in: gross 160, net 68 BF; list with crossed-out original measurements

Count a whole pile from one photo

estimate diameters in seconds

Take a photo of the log ends. Timberlog outlines every face it finds, gives you the count and an estimate of the diameters, and lets you fix or remove any detection by hand before the pile goes into your tally.

It is an estimate for a quick look at a deck, not a replacement for scaling the logs you get paid for.

All the log rules you work with

Doyle, Scribner, International, Ontario, Roy, metric

Board-foot rules for the US and Canada, cubic rules for export logs, metric formulas and national tables are all in one picker. Switch the rule and the same tally is recalculated.

big keys, readable in sunlight

Everything is on the phone: scaling, prices, photo measurement, the tally and the export. No signal needed in the woods and no account to create. Big keys and high contrast for one-handed work in bright sun.

Species, grade and tag on every log

the tally the buyer wants to see

Your own species and grade lists, a tag number on every log – typed, or scanned from a barcode or QR label. The tally groups and sums by species and grade, so the buyer gets the sheet they expect.

From loggers and firewood crews in the US

“I love the app so far. Myself and a few of my buddies have been running a firewood business and so these functions are critical. Now that I have an app to use I don't have to search on Google every time I need a calculator to figure out how many cords we got. Thank you so much.”

Questions loggers ask

Which log rules does Timberlog use?

Doyle, Scribner Decimal C, International 1/4", Ontario Scaler's Rule, Roy Log Rule and CedarLog 2/3, plus cubic rules (Huber, Smalian, Hoppus, JAS) and metric formulas. Doyle matches the printed chart.

Can I scale in feet and inches and still send a metric report?

Yes. Units and the log rule are set once in Quick setup and can be changed later; the tally sheet uses the units you scale in.

Does it work without cell service?

Yes. Scaling, prices, photo measurement and the PDF or Excel export all run on the phone. You need a connection only to send the file.

What is free and what is Pro?

Scaling, the tally and the reports are free. Pro removes ads and adds cut back for defects, a price per log, editing and sorting of the tally and unlimited photo measurements. The price is shown in the app in your currency.

How accurate is the photo measurement?

It is an estimate. Timberlog detects the log ends in the photo and estimates diameters from them; you check and correct every detection before it goes into the tally. For the logs you are paid for, scale them.

Does Timberlog run on iPhone?

Yes, on iPhone and iPad as well as Android phones and tablets. A tally saved on one can be opened on the other.
